About Dr. Sagar Patel

Dr. Sagar Patel

Dr. Sagar Patel is a physician completing fellowship training in Rheumatology at McMaster University, with an anticipated graduation date of June 30, 2026. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at McMaster University and holds FRCPC certification in Internal Medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto in 2021 and also holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of Guelph.

Dr. Patel has strong academic and clinical interests in rheumatology, with particular involvement in research related to giant cell arteritis, inflammatory arthritis, and systematic evidence synthesis. As part of his rheumatology fellowship training, he has also completed clinical training in osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, contributing to a strong foundation in the assessment and management of osteoporosis as an important component of rheumatologic care.

He has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations in rheumatology, cardiovascular outcomes, and medical education. He is also deeply interested in the integration of technology into medicine and is committed to advancing patient care through medical technology and health systems innovation. His work is driven by a passion for improving disease monitoring and enhancing patient outcomes, particularly in rheumatology.

In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Patel has been actively involved in teaching, mentorship, and scholarly work throughout his career. His experience includes undergraduate medical education through McMaster University clinical skills teaching, as well as leadership roles in journal club and patient safety initiatives during residency. His academic work has been presented at national meetings such as the Canadian Rheumatology Association Annual Scientific Meeting and the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress.
